Image for Black History Month

Dear Hopewell Valley Family,

During February, the United States celebrates the achievements of African Americans as part of Black History Month.  In recognition of this legacy of resiliency and leadership, the district will be joining schools nationwide to celebrate the many contributions that African Americans have made to our culture and history. In our efforts to partner with families during holidays, heritage months, and observances to educate our youth, we are again sharing links and resources to help facilitate conversations at home, should you be interested.  An introductory video about the history and significance of Black History Month can be found HERE.  You can also find some resources on the subject using this LINK and this LINK.

Thank you for your partnership in educating the children of Hopewell Valley.

Sincerely,

Mike Emmich - Timberlane Middle School Vice Principal

Darren Lewan - Supervisor K-12 Social Studies, Wellness, & Special Projects

Dr. Vicky Pilitsis - Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction
